In our “Nonprofits We Admire from Afar” series, we’re thrilled to spotlight organizations creating powerful change in their communities—especially those whose missions align with Quantum Leap Consulting’s commitment to uplifting individuals and families. This week, we’re shifting our focus to initiatives that center on young men of color. One standout nonprofit is doing incredible work by bringing young boys out of the city and into nature, providing opportunities for them to disconnect, heal, and foster a strong sense of brotherhood.
At QLC, we believe in the importance of storytelling for nonprofits. As we work with organizations to improve their data collection and implement systems like Salesforce , we emphasize the need to capture and share data effectively. Whether you’re a new nonprofit leader or established in the space, remember: a clear, compelling story can inspire others to join your cause. Data helps you build that story, documenting your impact and setting the foundation for long-term success.
When evaluating a nonprofit’s online presence, we look for key elements:
- Mission/Vision
- Who They Serve
- Programs
- Impact Report/Achievements
- Call to Action – Donate!
This week, we’re excited to highlight the Young Masterminds Initiative dba Camping to Connect led by Manny Almonte!
Vision
The Young Masterminds Initiative envisions a world where young men of color confidently lead and redefine what's possible. Their work transcends stereotypes, advocating for justice, inclusion, and accountability while fostering leadership, brotherhood, and personal growth.
Who They Serve
The Young Masterminds Initiative was created to offer youth, ages 13 to 24, an opportunity to participate in uniquely designed life skills and pre-college programs.
Programs
Camping to Connect
An outdoor experiential learning program that promotes self-reliance, leadership, and introspection while fostering a sense of brotherhood. Camping to Connect also has three programs:

What We Admire
As a mother of a Black young man, I deeply admire The Young Masterminds Initiative. Their mission to empower young men of color to navigate life’s pressures resonates with me. Programs like Camping to Connect offer a critical opportunity for young men to heal through nature, build brotherhood, and find meaning outside of the chaos of daily life.
In a world where so much violence and pain stem from unhealed wounds, organizations like this shine as beacons of hope. I hope to see The Young Masterminds Initiative expand to every city, offering these transformative programs to even more young men.
