This week, we are featuring a nonprofit devoted to affirming and protecting Black Genius by fostering culturally affirming learning environments for Black and Brown children through the love and wisdom of their families.

Vision

Village of Wisdom’s mission is rooted in the belief that Black Genius is intrinsic, limitless, and full of possibility. Their vision is to create a world that honors and activates individual Black Genius by affirming, protecting, and caring for Black and Brown children through the love and wisdom of their families. At the heart of their mission lies the commitment to dismantle systemic racism in education and replace it with culturally affirming learning environments.

Who They Serve

Village of Wisdom works directly with Black families and communities, empowering them to advocate for affirming educational spaces and practices that celebrate the brilliance of Black children. Their programs emphasize radical care, dreaming as a pathway to liberation, and multigenerational learning, fostering a cycle of knowledge and affirmation that flows through children, parents, and elders alike.

Dream Assessments

Wisdom Wednesdays

Black Parent Validated Resource Library

‍A collection of resources curated by and for Black parents to navigate educational challenges and advocate for culturally affirming practices in schools.

Black Genius Breathe Video

‍A multimedia project designed to inspire radical imagination and create tools for educators and families to nurture the brilliance of Black children.

‍Impact

In their Rebirth Report, VOW reflects on their evolution from supporting families to navigate racism to empowering families to build systems that erase it. By involving parents as essential partners in this mission, VOW has created a transformative model where communities become the architects of their own liberation.
