Nonprofits We Admire From Afar Series: Project Scientist

As we move through the giving season, we’re dedicating space each week to spotlight nonprofit organizations making a meaningful impact in their communities. According to DonorBox, 30% of annual donations happen in December—with 10% of those donations occurring in the final three days of the year.

For the rest of 2024, Quantum Leap Consulting (QLC) is proud to highlight inspiring nonprofits, focusing on their mission and the powerful stories they tell.

At QLC, we believe storytelling is essential for nonprofit growth. Whether you’re a new nonprofit leader or an experienced one, a compelling story can rally support. That story starts with good data. As we help organizations build data collection plans and implement systems like Salesforce, we always emphasize: data documents your impact and strengthens your case for funding and growth.

When we feature nonprofits, we focus on five key areas:

  • Mission & Vision
  • Who They Serve
  • Programs
  • Impact Report
  • Call to Action – Donate!

Vision

Based in Charlotte, NC, Project Scientist envisions a future where girls and women have equal access to pursue STEM education, careers, and leadership roles. Their bold vision calls for a society that recognizes and harnesses the full potential of diverse identities across gender, race, and lived experience.

Who They Serve

Project Scientist has already impacted over 24,000 girls, hosted 370 STEM expeditions, and engaged 1,200+ women STEM professionals as mentors. They’ve also trained 375+ educators to champion STEM education in schools and communities nationwide.

Programs

Summer STEAM Lab
A hands-on summer program for girls ages 4–12, hosted in real STEM environments like corporate campuses. Led by bilingual, credentialed teachers, this tuition-free experience sparks curiosity and confidence.

After-School STEAM Club
Meeting weekly, this club engages girls through themed STEM activities, expeditions, and role model visits—making science a family-friendly adventure, all at no cost to participants.

Scholars Program
For girls ages 13–18, this program dives into advanced topics like biomedical engineering, sustainability, and financial literacy. Through mentorship, labs, and industry exposure, students develop real-world STEM skills.

Teaching Institute
Free workshops that equip educators with equitable and culturally responsive teaching strategies—particularly in math. Educators earn CEUs while accessing expert guidance and planning resources.
